Job Description – Bean Kitchen Team Members


Bean Gaming is a family run independent board game café, where our main focus is building communities through great customer service and consistent positive experiences, while ditching the screens people can’t seem to do without.

We’re looking for a number of kitchen staff members to join us as we relaunch post lockdown.

The main purpose of this role is to prepare, cook and present food quickly and efficiently, as well as basic processes such as cleaning and stock control.

 

The ideal candidates will be passionate about working in a food preparation environment and ideally contribute to the development and growth of the store’s menu sales and business in general.

Responsibilities include:

  • To prepare, cook and present food quickly and efficiently, meeting our standards

  • Keeping the kitchen clean, hygienic and tidy, at all times

  • Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately

  • Opening or closing the kitchen when working the first or last shifts of the day

  • Work safely around kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues to the manager

  • Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients

  • Adhering to all Bean policies and procedures

  • Having a thorough understanding of the allergen and dietary requirements for all menu items and be able to discuss those with customers if required

  • Maintaining stock rotation and FIFO processes

  • Stock-take kitchen items and be able to prepare ingredient re-order lists

  • Work with the team to identify potential new menu items and seasonally rotate items off the menu

The successful applicant would ideally have the following experience and attributes, but training will be provided to carry out the role.

  • Experience of working in a kitchen environment

  • A passion for food preparation and presentation

  • Great communication skills

  • Well-presented, polite and dependable

Please note that the café is open from 4pm to 10pm Tuesday to Friday and 11am to 10pm on Weekends, and you would be expected to work flexible shifts between these hours.


Kitchen Team members would initially be scheduled to work 12 hours per week, with the opportunity to work extra hours to cover staff absence and additional hours during school holidays.

This role will report to the Shift Managers within the boardgame café.

This role is an hourly paid role at £8.90 per hour, reviewed after 3 months.
